Dr Wendy Harrod

Dr Wendy Harrod is an experienced consultant geriatrician dedicated to supporting older adults to live well, maintain independence, and age with dignity. Known for her thorough and compassionate approach, she works closely with patients and their families to develop tailored care plans that address complex medical needs while enhancing quality of life.

Dr Harrod holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy and an MBChB from South Africa and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Geriatric Medicine. With more than 20 years of practice across hospitals, rehabilitation, palliative care, and community medicine, she brings a broad and nuanced understanding of the health challenges faced by older people.

At Fiona Stanley and Fremantle Hospitals, Dr Harrod provides specialist care in dementia, delirium, frailty, continence, and mobility issues, with particular interests in perioperative medicine, rehabilitation, orthogeriatrics, and supporting patients through transitions of care. She is also actively involved in teaching medical students and mentoring junior doctors, fostering the next generation of clinicians in geriatric medicine.

For Dr Harrod, medicine extends beyond treating illness; it is about improving function, preserving dignity, and empowering patients. She is committed to delivering evidence-based, respectful, and personalised care.

Outside her clinical work, Dr Harrod enjoys spending time with family and friends, lifelong learning, caring for animals, and actively contributing to her community.
